Twitters says it has deactivated more that 125,000 ISIS accounts for “threatening or promoting terrorist acts”.

The company said most of the accounts primarily related to ISIS were suspended since mid 2015.

“We condemn the use of Twitter to promote terrorism and the Twitter Rules make it clear that this type of behavior, or any violent threat, is not permitted on our service,” Twitter said on its blog.

The Islamist militant group ISIS is reported to have recruited using social media networks.

The US company said it has increased the size of its team that reviews reports thereby reducing its response time.

“We have already seen results, including an increase in account suspensions and this type of activity shifting off of Twitter,” the company said.
